Good
for the Farmer, Good for the Consumer, Good for the Land
Community Supported
Agriculture, also known as CSA, is a partnership of mutual
support and commitment between the farmer and the consumer.
The consumer/members provide a guaranteed market and income
to the farmer who in turn provides the members with a weekly
share of naturally grown, seasonal, fruits and vegetables
that have been harvested at their peak of freshness, ripeness,
flavor, and vitamin and mineral content.
By
joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share with us in both
the risks and the rewards of small-scale sustainable farming:
weather; insect damage; bumper crops. We offer both full
and half
shares. Regardless of which share you choose, you will have
the opportunity to customize it somewhat as we offer a “buffet
style” of delivery at all of our locations except Cameron.
This means that if we have both broccoli and cauliflower in
the same box depending on which share size you have you can
have 1 of each or 2 of the same kind, etc. Our season will
run for approximately 24 weeks from mid-May to mid-October.
We have 3 delivery locations for you to choose from: the farm;
Liberty, MO; and Lee's... We will, depending on availability,
have additional bulk quantities available for purchase to
our members for canning, freezing, and storage. U-pick is
also available for items such as strawberries, blackberries,
tomatoes, peppers, green beans, and peas.
As a member of
our CSA, we welcome you to visit the farm and get to know
us as your farmers, to participate in farm activities such
as feeding the livestock or helping to harvest your own food,
or just to come and spend the day away from life in the city.
Our Spring Open Farm Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 3
and a Fall Harvest Celebration to mark the end of our 2008
growing season is scheduled to coincide with our last share
delivery, which will be an on the farm pick-up only, on Saturday,
October 18. Other special events may be planned throughout
the season. As a member with us, you are invited to help in
the planning and organizing of such events.
If
you are interested in partnering with us for the 2008 growing
season, please print off a contract
and return it to us along with your membership fee. Our shares
are limited, so please sign up early. Deadline for contracts
is April 19, 2008.
